Archer Announces Two New Senior Security Consultant Hires

Security Team Expanded to Support Rapid Growth in Client Base and Growing Demand for Cyber and Physical Security Services

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Two security auditors from the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) have joined cybersecurity consulting firm Archer Energy Solutions to bring added knowledge and skills to the Archer team.

Brent Castagnetto has served at WECC, the country’s largest regional entity responsible for compliance monitoring and enforcement, for six years, most recently as manager of cybersecurity audits and investigations in Salt Lake City.

“I’m passionate about team-building,” Castagnetto said. “The reason I chose Archer was to work with some of the most amazingly talented people in our industry. Archer provides me the opportunity to bring my skills and knowledge to broader industry in new and exciting ways. My primary goal is to support and strengthen the cyber and physical security posture of the clients we serve.”

Bryan Carr has served as senior compliance auditor of cyber and physical security at WECC since 2012.

“I offer a unique perspective based on my recent experience,” said Carr. “I have been fortunate to work on ‘both sides of the table,’ so to speak – four years as a compliance program manager for a large investor–owned utility, followed by another three and a half years as a WECC auditor.”

“Organizations today face many security, compliance, and audit challenges, and I am dedicated to understanding these challenges and adding value by offering solutions aimed at helping them strengthen their programs while reducing risk,” he added.

With these new additions to the team, Archer is now the only firm in the U.S. that has six former NERC CIP auditors as resources.

Bryan and Brent both bring a tremendous amount of compliance and security experience to Archer,” said Stacy Bresler, managing partner at Archer Energy Solutions. “They are both highly skilled in helping organizations determine their potential security deficiencies, with a special focus on the NERC CIP Standards. Most importantly, they are both fantastic people who understand the importance of excellent client relationships.

“With their expert NERC CIP and security knowledge, Archer has greatly increased its CIP brain trust, and we aim to use that to help utilities subject to NERC CIP meet their compliance and security obligations,” said Bresler.
